WD40 & Duct Tape

All you ever need in life is WD40 and Duct Tape.

If it moves and it shouldn't, use Duct Tape.

If it doesn't move and it should, use WD40.

Tag???

Isn't this tagging stuff for women?? Oh well, I guess I will have to explore my feminine side.

10 years ago:

Hmmm, I was 18. The year was 1995. I think I was attending Even Hardy Collegiate and I think I was about to meet Sarah or already had. I think we were basically spending every waking moment together and skipping school to stay home and watch Mr Dressup, ect and eating my Mom out of house an home. I think I would have still owned my 1985 Capri RS and doing lots of street racing and such.

1 year ago:

Umm, probably pretty much where I am right now except that I had one kid less in the litter.

Yesterday:

Worked during the day and got to hang out with ma boyz Moose and CWG in the evening! Oh yeah, I baked some chocolate chip muffins too.

Tomorrow:

Going to the thriving metropolis of Waldheim for their centennial celebrations. Why you may ask? Well, I have a deep abiding love for the town of Waldheim, my families roots go back 100 years to the founding fathers of the town and we have an incredible heritage there. Even look at the name, Waldheim, Waldherr are we seeing some similarities???

NOT

Actually the only people I know in Waldheim are our good friends the Blocks. Kelly is the Mayor and Milton her husband is very involved in setting up the centennial celebrations. And....they have invited our club, Saskatoon Off Road Radio Control Club (SORRCC) to come join them. The have built us an incredible track which we will have fun on destroying our RC cars to the cheering of the crowds.

My Avatar

Vote for Pedro

The Awakening!!

I have always been a believer in Promise Keepers. Yes there has been some question as to the administration and vision and other controversies, but there message has always remained the same, "Men stand up and embrace your calling". This can never be wrong.
This October there will be a conference in Regina and I am very excited. I went a couple years ago with some very special brothers from the church and we had a great time together. The most important thing is to not let what you learn at these conferences get forgotten. It is great to come back home with a new fire and passion for Jesus, but that doesn't mean much if it fades away in a week.
Should be a great time, come join us if your are interested. I will post more in the months to come before the event.

Please comment

I just changed the setting that allows anybody including non-registered members to post. Should have done this sooner, sorry.

Just Be.......

Wow what a lesson this has been for me. I have been struggling in my Christian walk, my foundations are being rocked on every side. I am taking all the pressures of my life including my present and future and they are crushing me. And then I hear......just be. What a concept. I like the term "sparrow faith". God looks after even the sparrows, then how much more will He look after me as a heir of His throne. The sparrow does not frett where its next meal will come from, neither should I.
It is amazing what just being does. Whenever the thought comes to me about some huge decision I have to make, I am simply confronting that thought with "that is in God's hands not mine". I don't need to worry about anything becuase He is in control. I am just here to serve, to listen to Daddy's voice.
I have been way too focused on myself and staring at my feet and my circumstances. If God wants to move me He will. What a concept. I am so much more relaxed. I am not worried about that problem that may pounce on me around the corner. When I run into s situation with a client and am asking God what do you want me to learn through this? Embrace the trials for you will emerge on the other side with a blessing and knowlege how to slay that dragon the next time you face him.

You know what happens when you run from a dragon? You get burned in the butt!!!

Well I have some pretty charded buns, and I have douced the flames with my own tears.

Foundations

I am finding myself back at the beginning. But God has been speaking to me through many things about building solid foundations.
I still need much self discipline though. I know the key to knowing God is spending time with him which is likely one of my biggest struggles right now. Mornings are definatley the best time to spend with Him, but mornings have not been happening. I have gotten into a bad cycle of getting up with just enough time to get ready and to work on time.
I want my children to know that when they wake up and see my bible on the table that I had spent my time with God. That I started the day right asking for guidance and direction with the many decisions that I had to make for the day.
Please pray for me that I could start to get this right.

Society Status

I am left in a situation I am unsure of how to deal with. I am disatisfied. I am disatisfied with my life. I have a beautiful wife, 4 awesome kids, my own company, why would I be disatisfied?? It is because I feel like I am not going anywhere. I am 5 years into a company that would qualify as a non-profit organization (actually non-profit organizations make more money than I do), I cannot provide for my family and I can't seem to get any self discipline in my life.
And for what?? A lack of vision. There can be no provision without vision. I am constantly asking God "why are you not providing for me?" and he keeps on saying "becuase you haven't asked".
Much of this is coming from the fact that I am going to be 30 pretty soon. I have always looked at 30 as being old and being the marker in my life where I would have certain things established such as a stable income and owning a home. I am many years away from either.
I struggle with trying to figure out if this is coming from my flesh or from God. Would I be satisfied if God said to me:

"I am going to provide for your basics only. You will have money, but just enough to get by. I will continue to bless your company with awesome customers but only enough to keep the doors open. I will give you a house to live in but it will never be yours."

Could I live with that?? I see many people that I look up to and God has blessed them financially, he has give them there own home and money to spare at then end of month. Why not me?? Are these not good Godly desires to be successful here on earth?

But then He says to me:

"Would you be satisfied with just me? What if I told you I will never give you what you desire.
But,
I will bless your marriage that it will be a light to others.
I will make your children strong pillars of the faith and arrows to fill your quiver.
I will make you a man of faith and you will know me the desires of my heart and bring my sheep home.
I will impart upon you a wisdom that will confuse the wise and a heart of love for those whom I love.
I will ask you to go and you will go and I will ask because I know that you will listen ".
This is what I desire for you."

Get my eyes off of what I don't have an get focused on He who has is all. The real bread of life.

Missing Person

Many times God has given me songs that reflect my heart at a peticular moment in my life. This one just played on the radio. No coincidence.

Micheal W Smith - Missing Person

Another question in me
One for the powers that be
It's got me thrown and so
I Put on my poker face
And try to figure it out
This undeniable doubt
A common occurrence
Feeling so out of place

Guarded and cynical now
Can't help but wondering how
My heart evolved into a
Rock beating inside of me
So I reel, such a stoic ordeal
Where's that feeling that I don't feel?

Chorus:

There was a boy who had the faith to move a mountain
And like a child he would believe without a reason
Without a trace he disappeared into the void and
I've been searching for that missing person

Under a lavender moon
So many thoughts consume me
Who dimmed that glowing light
That once burned so bright in me
Is this a radical phase
A problematical age
That keeps me running
From all that I used to be

Is there a way to return
Is there a way to unlearn
That carnal knowledge
That's chipping away at my soul
I've been gone too long
Will I ever find my way home?

Chorus:

There was a boy who had the faith to move a mountain
And like a child he would believe without a reason
Without a trace he disappeared into the void and
I've been searching for that missing person
He used to want to try to walk the straight and narrow
He had a fire and he could feel it in the marrow
It's been a long time and I haven't seen him lately but
I've been searching for that missing

From there to here

I have struggled with everything I have written in this blog and have been intentionally keeping away from it as it is a painful place to go.

Everything I wrote here was like a fire in my heart at the time I wrote it and now FEELS like a distant memory. I have asked myself who "Firestarter" is and as the difference between him and me FEELS like the difference between night and day.

It FEELS like one moment you are soaring on wings like eagles, the next you are crawling in the sewers.

In "Lifting my voice" I made declarations and statements like "never" and "always" and I FEEL ashamed that I have not kept these commitments.

I am such a FEELING person. I am ruled by my FEELINGS.

I can remember at one point of my Christian walk when I was feeling like this. I had only been born again for a short time and I was going from Christian high to Christian high. If it wasn't a really great alter call at church it was an incredible Promise Keepers rally or some special speaker that came to town and had all the answers to my problems. I bought the book, the audio cassette and the video and they sit on my shelf unopened since that time.

All of a sudden there were no speakers coming to town, no Promise Keepers and those alter calls just weren't stirring me to get out of my seat like they used to. And like the spiritual junky I am I went into withdrawal.

"Where are you God, why don't I feel you?!"

"I am not a FEELING."

He then showed me a vision of my life. He showed me a mountain that I was climbing that I could never see the top of. I kept trying to get to the top but could never reach it. I FELT that there was more, I just needed to try a little harder.
He then told me to stop and look at the truth of His word. When I stopped and looked the cloud moved away and I saw that my feet we at the top of the mountain and there was nothing more to climb I was already at the top. He also showed me that the He was the mountain, the rock on which I must plant my foundation.

I was given that vision at least 8 years ago. You would think that by now I would learn. This just goes to show how weak my foundation is, and that I have not built my faith on the rock, but rather my feelings.

So I am a spiritual junky. They say in AA that admission is the first step to recovery.

So how do you rebuild your house on stone when you have built it on sand?

Looks like I have some demolition and construction to do.

Retreat, retreat, retreat -- Part 1

I was very blessed this last weekend as the men of our church (The Men Of Hope) went on a retreat up north to a camp. God was stirring in my heart as we prepared to leave, I had an expectancy in my spirit.

I have been struggling in my Christian walk over the past year, seeing the gift that God has given me of new life as common. I hadn’t even planned to go to the retreat as my wife had just given birth to our baby girl a week and a half previous.

Well my wife really wanted to see me go so I decided I would.

The Sunday before the retreat God started moving in my heart in a whole new way. I knelt down at my pew and started weeping, not really knowing what for but knowing that God was doing some renovations on my heart.

As we drove up to the camp I enjoyed fellowship with my brothers in the van but had a nervousness that kept me more silent than I normally would have been. The expectancy was growing.

Retreat, retreat, retreat -- Part 2

I was fortunate enough to room with my best friend and the first night we ended up talking till early in the morning. I told him at that time that I felt like we (all of us) were behind a curtain, getting ready for a school play. We were getting ready but on the other side of the curtain we could hear the murmur of the audience anxiously awaiting the curtain to rise. I didn’t know what it meant but I was excited.

The following day God asked me to keep bringing my brothers before God and to pray for them as we worshipped and heard the spoken word. God met us immediately as we started our praise and worship as the powerful sound of 35 men lifted our voices to the one who brought us. We formed small groups and confessed our sins to each other and prayed for cleansing. God brought me to weeping bitterly for the sin in my life and for my brothers.

We played a great game of hockey on the frozen lake later that afternoon and my team emerged triumphant after going 4 games without one loss.

Our pastor spoke to us that evening after supper about our resisting coming under the authority of God in our lives and taking responsibility for our families. We were called into a time of repentance and prostrating ourselves before God. We were met by the holy spirit and he cleansed us of all our unrighteousness.

This next part is going to get a little hard for me to explain, so please have patience with me as I am still trying to understand everything that happened to me and through me.

Retreat, retreat, retreat -- Part 3

One of our leaders approached a brother who had verbalized a separation that was occurring in his home. This leader called him to a deeper level of repentance and renouncing and breaking off of spirits that had influenced these separations in his home. He called the men to gather and a number of us leaped out of our chairs to surround our brother in prayer. As our brother struggled to release these things from his life God called some to start proclaiming truths and others including myself to weep for him.

I was brought to bitterly weeping for my brother and circumstance and I cried like I have never before. Unfortunately I had forgotten to restock my pockets after my last sobbing session, what a mess.

As we were praying and I was weeping our pastor called out for those that wanted to whale for our brother to release those gifts and immediately something came from my mouth. It started in my stomach and pushed its way out of my mouth. Waves kept on pouring out and the more I tried to keep it in the more my body would shake until I would release it

This went on for sometime until it was discerned that we were finished. I sat down and tried to collect myself. The tears kept on coming and the shaking and were not going away. Alright, now this was going from strange to down right scary. I called out to one of my brothers that was sitting next to me to pray for me, but it kept on. The brother called our pastor over to help. My pastor started asking questions if what I was going through was still for my brother with the separation in his family. I felt in my spirit that that was done so no. I pleaded to him to help me make this stop. He asked me if this was for my family and immediately the bellow came from my stomach again.

The next while I spend taking my family one by one before the Lord and canceling and nullifying the curses that I had brought into my family. And as each one was released I would roar again. When I had finished my fight the shaking stopped and I could finally rest.

We saw many other amazing things that night including a brother give his heart to Christ.

My hearts cry since coming back has been that I would not just be touched and not changed but that God would change me into a new man. That Jesus would make me the man he wants me to be.

Lifting my voice

God gave me a wonderful dream the other night. Many of the circumstances seemed weird as many dreams do, but the core message came through. I was on a stage singing a duet with someone, and I kept trying to sing but my voice would constantly falter. Then God would grant me His spirit and a mighty beautiful sound would bellow out of my mouth as if a fire was alive in my stomach and needed to be released. I still remember how beautiful my song was even though I don’t remember what it was.

I still wonder if it was a dream and if I were to stand in front of a microphone right now that God would release that song and that it would sound as beautiful to all of you as it did to myself.

You know what? It doesn’t matter. My song was and is beautiful to my God and is not limited to my earthly vocal cords. God has called me to lift up my voice, when I am by myself in private worship or when I am worshiping with my church family. And from now on I WILL lift my voice wherever I am, because I need to lift up the one who lifted me.

Thankful for this?

Ever since our fourth child was born mid February I have been the one getting my son on the school bus every morning. I have done this in a heart of servant hood to wife as she is getting only a few hours of uninterrupted sleep.

No a big deal right? Well in our case it is a bit more of a chore since my son cannot do anything for himself due to his Cerebral Palsy. Meds, sponge bath, lifting into the wheel chair, doing up all the straps, putting his cover on, getting down the stairs, it is a lot of work especially for 7am.

This particular morning my wife agreed to put him on the bus so that I could go to one of my regular morning meetings. Well the long and short of it is that I ended up sleeping past when I needed to get up for my meeting. My wife feeling that I abused an act of good will, retaliated and the fight was on.

I did go to me meeting even though I was late. One of the last words my wife said to me was “your welcome”. The rest of the way to the meeting I kept saying to myself “yeah thanks for the wonderful morning” and “thanks for your servant heart”.

How many times has my savior done this for me? He laid down his life, so that I may have a new life empowered by His Holy Spirit. How many times have I looked at that gift as common?

“God give me the eyes to always see your sacrifice for me. That you, a Holy and sovereign God would die for me. So that I would be able to have eternal communion with my heavenly father. Thank you for my wife and her true servant heart, please help me to appreciate her more”

Make Me The Man

During my devotions this morning this song echoed my heart's desire, I thought it a very fitting first post.

Phil Joel - The Man You Want Me To Be

I played the fool so long
Thought I was so strong
All the while You knew it wasn’t true
Rerunning in my mind
Memories of another time
When all I ever lived for
Was You

CHORUS:
Jesus
Make me the man You want me to be
Jesus
Make me the man You want me to be

I’ve been listening all my life
Words are spoken all the time
I have heard the liars and the true
Voices twisting in the air
Sweetly sounding so unclear
But nothing can replace a word
From You
A child is but for so long
Turn around those days are gone
Nothing can replace the years of youth
I have swallowed lies
That tasted true
The plans I thought were sent from You
When all You wanted was for me
To be still

The burning in the heart
Of man’s deepest desire
Is rising like a flame
The burning in the heart
Of our deepest desire
Rising like a flame
Burning higher and higher
Burning in the heart
Of our deepest desire
Is to know You

Unqualified To Drive\Live

Were you driving today? Try and think of your drive to work or wherever you were going and ask yourself how aware were you of your driv...
